Cultural Studies, Religion, Ethnicity and Lanna


These issues is a cluster that focuses on the study and exploration of genetic resources, local wisdom and traditional cultural expression of the local community in Thailand. This cluster Includes the study of physical identity value such as Kruba (sacred monk), religious places and social history of Lanna toward museum establishment in Chiang Mai. Several researches focus on the restoration of language and indigenous wisdom of ethnic groups, livelihood changes and the food regime of ethnic community at the Mekong as an alternative development, migration of ethnic groups in Southeast Asia and connectivity with the powerful nation. In addition, many researches explore on the construction of knowledge spaces in multicultural society of new emerging groups from modernization process, and the beliefs of Ganesha cult and the symbolic economy.
